Comparative Study of Transvaginal Scoring Stystem and Scrum CA 125 to Predict Ovarion Malignancy

Cho Tae-Ho
Abstract
The ability to differentiate d malignant from a benign ovarian mass was assessed for two diagnostic procedures ; serum CA 125, transvaginal storing system. Serum CA 125 is an antigenic determinant expressed by than 80% epithelial ovarian cancer that maybe precisely measured in serum¢¥ with radioimmunoassay. Overall, the sensitivity of CA 125 was not excellent Our purpose was to maximize the discrimination between benign and malignant entities. The scoring system and CA 125 level devised was useful in distinguishing benign from malignant masses with a specificity 76.2 %, sensitivity 100 % In conjunction with such tests, measurement of serum CA 125 significantly increased diagnostic accuracy and may thus have an important role in the preoperative evaluation of women with ovarian masses.
